Allergy-Friendly Menus Coming to Quick Service and Table Service Restaurants at Walt Disney World

The Walt Disney World Resort has started to introduce allergy-friendly menus at nearly 120 quick service and table service locations. The menus were being rolled out at the table service restaurants on April 14 and will be at other table service and quick service spots by September.

According to Gary Jones, chef and culinary dietary specialist for Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, the new menus are just another way for Disney to "provide high-quality, safe, and more accessible alternatives, and the best possible dining experience for guests with specific dietary needs."

The menus will provide guests with the allergen content for each menu items including appetizers, entrees, side items, desserts, and kids' meals. The most common allergens of gluten/wheat, milk, peanut, tree nut, and fish will be covered in the menus. Other allergens such as sesame seed are not included.

Guests are still encouraged to consult with a restaurant chef or "special diets" trained cast members to communicate special dietary needs so that extra measures can be taken.

The allergy-friendly menus are also being rolled out at the Disneyland Resort.

How wonderful! This makes me feel so good about traveling with friends with food issues.

This isn't very well organized. They should have a vegetarian/vegan menu, gluten-free menu, etc. There should be a notation under items saying, for example, "This item contains - or does not contain - nuts." I'm very glad that they're doing this, but I don't think that menu is particularly helpful.

When we visited with our children 15 years ago we had no problems. One of my sons has a peanut allergy. We had breakfast with Winnie the pooh and when u made the reservations I asked about it and they made a notation and when we ordered they were ready for him. It made him feel very special they cared about him !!!!
