The 40th Annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards and the Daytime Entertainment Creative Arts Emmy Awards were recently presented, and the Disney/ABC Television Group walked away with nearly a dozen awards.
General Hospital's Kristen Alderson won her first Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama for her role as Starr Manning. Co-star Julie Marie Berman won her third Daytime Emmy for her role as LuLu Spencer. It was her first win as Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, she had previously won for Outstanding Younger Actress.
ABC's daytime soaps General Hospital and One Life to Live tied for Outstanding Achievement in Multiple Camera Editing for a Drama Series. OLTL recently began airing online after being removed from ABC's daytime lineup last year.
Three Daytime Emmys were awarded to the Disney Channel, including two for Disney Junior for Outstanding Original Song - Children's and Animation for "I Love You Too" from 3rd and Bird! and Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation for Storyboard Artists Robert Kline for Minnie Bow-Toons "Piano Movers and Shakers." Disney Channel was also honored for Outstanding Special Class Short Format Daytime Program for Make Your Mark: Ben Harowitz Bullying PSA.
Disney's other kid's network - Disney XD - was honored with the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Achievement in Sound Editing - Animation for Slugterra.
ABC's Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade was awarded for Outstanding Achievement in Live & Direct to Tape Sound Mixing and Outstanding Special Class Directing. And, Little Big Town's theme song for Good Afternoon America "Good Afternoon" won a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Original Song.
The Daytime Emmys were announced live on the HLN Network on Sunday, June 16. The Creative Arts Emmy Awards were presented on June 14 in Los Angeles.
