It's billed as one of the fastest-growing water sports around, and those heading to Downtown Disney today can see what it's all about. We're talking, of course, about dragon boat racing and the upcoming Orlando International Dragon Boat Festival that will take place today at DD.
Dragon boats take their design inspiration from ancient China. The long boats feature a dragon head and tail plus twenty rowers, a drummer and a steerperson. The goal is for everyone in the boat to work together and in unison to swiftly propel the craft through the water.
Last year's festival drew about seventy entries. This year, that number is expected to increase as enthusiasts from as far away as Canada and Trinidad take on the waters of Downtown Disney.
If you'd like to catch the action, head over to the Village Lake near DD. The Festival is set to run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

That's so cool! I've never heard of this going on at Disney Before, how neat!

I thought it sounded neat, too. I've never even heard of dragon boating before this, either!
