The grant was announced by George Kalogridis, president of the Walt Disney World Resort, at a performance of the Candlelight Processional on December 6. The performance was attended by community and non-profit leaders from the area.

The half million dollar grant will be used specifically to aid homeless families in Orange and Osceola counties.

The Homeless Impact Fund is part of the Central Florida Foundation, a charitable group that started last year with a $6 million pledge from the Florida Hospital. Currently the fund has more than $7.3 million to help move homeless people into housing.
