Hurricane Irma is continuing to churn through the warm waters of the Atlantic, heading toward south Florida. The Orlando area will likely feel the impacts of the storm later this weekend, and Disney World has announced several closures and cancellations ahead of the storm.

Disney Announces Closure of ‘Toontown’ and Other Virtual World Online Games

With the highly-anticipated release of the new Disney Infinity it seems that perhaps there isn't room for a few older online games as the Walt Disney Company has announced that it is closing down the decade-old Toontown Online video game.

The game will shut down September 19, along with the Pirates of the Caribbean Online and Disney Fairies Pixie Hollow. The company said that it is shifting development focus toward other online and mobile play experiences including Club Penguin.

Tidbits from WDW: Attractions and Restaurants

Here are a few attraction- and food-related news tidbits from around Walt Disney World.

First off, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad has reopened after a long refurbishment with some changes. If you're heading out to take in the Magic Kingdom attraction, you'll see the Fastpass and Stand-by line entrances have been switched. The Stand-by queue area has been lengthened by quite a bit with the promise of additional props to be added to the waiting area in the weeks to come. As for the ride itself, not a whole lot appears to have changed; there are reports the coaster is smoother overall.

Snow White's Scary Adventures Closing This Week

We brought you a story back in 2011 about the closing of Snow White's Scary Adventures as the Fantasyland expansion continues. Now that time is upon us as the last day to experience this classic Magic Kingdom ride is Thursday, May 31.

Snow White Attraction To Close In June

There's official word from Disney as to when a classic attraction will be closed for good. Snow White's Scary Adventures will be closing June 1 of this year.

The attraction, which has been around since 1971, will close as the Fantasyland expansion continues at Walt Disney World. In its place will be the new home for the Disney princesses and their meet and greet.

Snow White and her Dwarfs will get an update as part of the expansion; they're set to feature in a new mine-themed roller coaster.

Fantasyland Rumor: Snow White's Scary Adventures To Close February 2012

We knew Snow White's Scary Adventures would eventually be closing as part of the ongoing Fantasyland expansion at Walt Disney World. Now, Stitch Kingdom is reporting a possible timeframe of when to expect that closing.

Rumor has it the Fantasyland attraction will close to guests sometime in February 2012. It's closing will make way for the planned Princess Fairytale Hall where guests can, appropriately enough, greet Disney's bevy of princess beauties.

Minnie and Mickey have been victims of Eminent Domain! This was my first thought upon hearing the announcement that Mickey's Toontown Fair was closing its doors and being leveled to make way for New Fantasyland. On my first visit to Walt Disney World, I was fortunate to visit Mickey's Birthdayland, which opened on June 18, 1988 to celebrate Mickey's 60th birthday.
