Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Officially Opens to Magic Kingdom Guests on May 28

The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train has an official opening date at the Magic Kingdom.

The final piece of the New Fantasyland expansion will open to guests on May 28.

The date was announced at a media event that featured a preview and official dedication of the new coaster.

Jessica Chastain Featured as Merida in New Disney Dream Portrait by Annie Leibovitz

The newest Disney Dream portrait marks the first time that a Pixar character has been featured in the series.

Photographer Annie Leibovitz's latest portrait features Academy Award-nominated actress Jessica Chastain (The Help, Zero Dark Thirty) as Merida from Brave.

The title of the portrait is "Where your destiny awaits" and features Chastain on horseback in Merida's famous green frock, aiming a bow and arrow.

The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is set to open later this spring at the Magic Kingdom and will be the final addition in New Fantasyland.

As fans eagerly await the debut of the new attraction, Disney Imagineering is giving everyone a sneak peek into what it takes to produce the themed cars for the ride.

In this video, Imagineers Ben VanBeusekon and Mary Mac Eachin explain the creative process behind the creation of the mine cars.

First Mine Train Car for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Arrives at the Magic Kingdom

A few weeks ago we reported that the last piece of track was completed on the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train in New Fantasyland. And now we can report that another piece of the attraction has made its way to the Magic Kingdom - the first train car was delivered to the Magic Kingdom.

The train car is being kept in a backstage area under the watchful eyes of Imagineers, and will soon receive a themed paint job.

Track Completed for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at the Magic Kingdom

The last piece of track has been laid in place at the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train coaster in New Fantasyland at the Magic Kingdom.

The coaster, which is set to open in 2014, is an, indoor-and-outdoor coaster with cars that sway from side-to-side. It takes guests on a journey through the mine where the Seven Dwarfs spent their days digging for gems, and will feature music and characters from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

"Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" To Mark 75 Years With Showing at New York Film Festival

"Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" will be marking its 75th anniversary with a "state-of-the-art digital presentation" at this year's New York Film Festival. The beloved Disney animated film is set to light up the big screen on Saturday, September 29 at the Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall.

Those lucky enough to attend the festival's screening of the Disney classic will also be treated to a sneak peek of the newest Disney animated short, "Paperman."

We brought you a story back in 2011 about the closing of Snow White's Scary Adventures as the Fantasyland expansion continues. Now that time is upon us as the last day to experience this classic Magic Kingdom ride is Thursday, May 31.

Snow White Attraction To Close In June

There's official word from Disney as to when a classic attraction will be closed for good. Snow White's Scary Adventures will be closing June 1 of this year.

The attraction, which has been around since 1971, will close as the Fantasyland expansion continues at Walt Disney World. In its place will be the new home for the Disney princesses and their meet and greet.

Snow White and her Dwarfs will get an update as part of the expansion; they're set to feature in a new mine-themed roller coaster.
