AKL club level?

We have managed to score 11 nights in our DVC home resort AKL in club level! Eeeeek! I'm so excited! Has anyone ever stayed club level there before? (or anywhere else?), what's it like? What snacks can we expect? What's so different about club than the normal DVC rooms?

Eeeeeeek yay

We stayed club level. It's free snacks and wine/beer during cocktail hours. The snacks were little appetizers I remember little puff pastry with filling, and some other things in that nature. You also get to check in upstairs so you avoid the lines. It was fun, and nice getting to see that far from the 5th level

I've stayed on DVC AKL club level twice and I LOVE it!

In my opinion the pool view room is nice than the savanna view, unless you are actually standing out on the balcony looking down. The sloping roof means that your balcony is actually sort of in the eaves, so this isn't a room to get just for a great view.

The concierge service is nice, but since I do my own planning I didn't really make use of it. You will get DAILY FULL housekeeping and nightly turn down service! Rock on. Nothing is really different about the actual room, just the service. Oh - I think that there are more amenities in the bathroom, lotion, shower cap, tooth bush and such.

The lounge is a sweet little spot to grab a bite before heading out in the morning. I am in love with the mini chocolate croissants, Geordon likes the African version of oatmeal they had. Fresh sliced fruit, berries, several pastries, mini bagels and cream cheese. There is an easy to use espresso machine that puts out a decent cup, as well as an assortment of coffee, tea, and juice. The thing I really remember about mid-day service was the samosas, they were delish. Evening service puts out assorted sweets. I want to say that they turn over the menu 5 times a day. There is some lounge information here http://www.aklresort.com/content/kilimanjaro-club-concierge-accommodations

If I had my choice these would be the only AKL DVC rooms I would stay in. You're going to have a wonderful time!

Ooh just thought of another question, we are staying CL and our parents are in a normal room so I'm hoping to add them as day guests to our room so that they can access the lounge with us and come to our room. We intend to do the breakfast safari, but I wanted to know if I could book them to do it as well as they will be down as our guests, but not technically staying CL?

I don't know about having a specific day guest, however when I travel with Becks I sometimes add her to my room reservation even though she has her own room. That way she gets a key and can access our DVC property without any issues. You can put as many names into your DVC reservation as there are sleeping spots in the room.

Club level at Boardwalk was awesome. We did get the gold KTTW cards however with MBs i'm not sure if you'll get the cards. The breakfast and snacks were awesome and who wouldn't like a nice nightcap or two. The club lounge staff were excellent. They sent me bday greetings on our voicemail and even placed a reserved card on a table for us. We spent a good deal of time enjoying the "freebies" and watching cartoons. One CM and i chatted up about Phineas and Ferb while watching P&F.

we didn't do the dining plan because we stayed CL, it worked really well for us and i recommend it to anyone wanting to try it. the one caveat is if you are going commando in the parks from sun up to sundown CL won't be for you. We weren't in a hurry to see the parks after our cruise so we stayed in and ate wraps, cheese, &fruit. actually DW brought food back to our room because i was so tired and no one batted an eye.

i'd stay CL again especially during F&W..totally worth it!

Would you care to elaborate on why you didn't do the dining plan while staying in CL? I'm very interested to hear why.

Mandy -

For people who spend a lot of time at the hotels and aren't big eaters the food offerings in the lounge can be enough to make the dining plan not really worth it.

However, I actually do use dining plan on club level because 1) We always had breakfast in the lounge and didn't need to pay even more out of pocket, and 2) because it allowed me to double up points on a couple of nights and eat at signature restaurants that cost 2 credits.

There's really no one "right" way to do it, you've got a lot of options! awesome

Thanks Kristin you explained that perfectly. awesome

Mandy we ate in the CL lounge for breakfast , it was really nice. After we filled up for breakfast we indulged in various kiosks for the F & W festival and then had a lighter dinner with night caps in the CL lounge. If we stayed for a longer period I might have done the dining plan but we were there for a quick trip, I used my TiW card and had no issues. If we stayed longer I'd totally do the dining plan and as Kristen said I'd double up on sit downs.

It makes perfect sense. I'm using this forum as a learning tool because I still have a lot to learn about Disney as a company.
