Fantasyland Opening Dates Announced

So the opening dates for Fantasyland were just announced...grand opening is December 6th with previews set to begin November 19th. What exactly can we expect to happen during the preview time? I will be there that week and hope to go enjoy Fantasyland.

I wish they'd let on a little more about what attractions will be there, but we'll find out soon enough. clapping

Be Our Guest is also listed as opening on December 6th! We'll have to go for the counter service lunch.

Cookie...all I have read so far says: Attractions included in the opening are Under the Sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid, Be Our Guest Restaurant, Enchanted Tales with Belle, Ariel's Grotto, Gaston's Tavern and Bonjour! Village Gifts.

I just wish they would give more info on what to expect during previews.

Mhmm, that's got to be annoying. Since they had to do away with Snow White, I'm hoping that there's some sort of comparable ride to make up for it.

I'm pretty sure the rides will be in their soft opening stage during the preview times and perhaps the restaurants may do an edited menu not the full blown menu just to get their feet wet so to speak. I know during soft openings they tell people the wait times are hit or miss. We waited hours for Splash mountain in CA but were in line with one of the imaginEars so we didn't mind waiting.

Hopefully I'll be there in either Nov. or Dec, if not, then in Jan. for my birthday!

It is a very good news for those who have a plan to go there. In the original Fantasyland expansion plan, there were more princess attractions. People complained that it was more appealing to girls than boys, so they took out some of the princess attractions. Now it is more evened out.

I will be getting off the Disney Dream right on Dec. 6. Considering that it will probably be packed to the gills on that day, we might go the day after.

Zz.

Soft opening:
Basically a soft open is when the attraction suddenly opens to the general guests. Anyone who just happens to be walking by can enter the queue and ride the attraction. Think of this as a final testing phase before the attraction has it's big unveiling. The goal remains the same, work the kinks out and train the cast members in real situations. But because of this the attraction can open and close at any time without warning. This can happen multiple times a day, or not at all. It is completely unpredictable and at the discretion of WDI and the needs of the cast member training.

I asked this question on the Disney Parks Blog but will ask it here as well.

I know the preview begins on November 19. I will be there the week prior. Will the walls come down earlier than the 19th? I'd love to see the new section and walk around it if I could.

JoAnn, I think there's a really good chance that they will be down, or there will be some access granted in some way, prior to the 19th. It's very exciting! Although they'll still be working on some things for opening in 2013, Belle's Village was the part I was really looking forward to the most.

And I guess, even though the structure seems to be up, from the pics I've seen, that we have to wait 'til much later in the year for the Dwarves Mine Train??

I think the Dwarves ride will be open in 2014.

I got an answer on the Disney Parks Blog.

"Not sure when the walls will come down, but some of these structures are pretty tall. Walking through the existing Fantasyland, it's hard to miss some of these things because they're so tall " specifically the Seven Dwarf Mine Train and Prince Eric's Castle."
