Fun things to do round the MK resorts

We have had a rather exciting day in the Robyn household Smile we already had flights for September booked, along with 10 nights in AKL on DVC points... Well last night my good friend decided that she wasn't going to be able to make it to wdw for. 3rd time this year (so don't feel too bad for her, she's going in march and may still) and wants to rent out some of her points, she owns at BLT and AKL. So after some emails we have another 7 nights at AKL booked, then 2 nights at BLT (with a mk view Wink ) and then onto AKL for the already booked, 10 nights. Eeeeeeek! We booked 2 nights at BLT as its over our wedding anniversary Smile so hence the reason for my thread, what to do around the mk resorts? We are planning on hiring a boat on bay lake for a while, and obviously visiting the Lounge for a drink (though not for wishes as we can watch that from our room) what else is there to do?

So my list so far is,
Get a dole whip from the poly,
Hire a boat somewhere, for a trip round bay lake,
Visit the top of the world lounge

We aren't huge drinkers so drinking our way round isn't really our thing, though we did think the GF might be nice for a drink, when is there musicians there? Anyone know?

Thank you for listening to my rambles lol xxxxxxxx

Aww thanks allie, it might mean we take a hit on the may trip and not go, as money can only stretch so far Wink though I'm still hopeful...

Wow! That's an exciting trip!
I don't know very much about GF, but since you'll be at the Poly I'd also recommend stopping in at the Wyland art gallery on the main floor of the lobby. There are some beautiful pieces in there.

According to Allears regarding the musicians at GF, "The Pianist in the lobby, whose CD you can purchase in Sandy Cove, starts playing at 3 p.m. and alternates with the orchestra until 9:45 p.m." http://allears.net/acc/faq_gf.htm

Thanks J.P. that's really useful to know, we will head there and grab a drink and just sit for a while watching the world go by Smile can't wait!

You could book for afternoon tea at the Garden View Tea room in GF. I went on my birthday and really enjoyed it. In the evening then there is the Electrical water pageant you can watch from several of the resorts. they also show movies on the beach at WL and prob some of the other resorts as well, so that would be worth considering. I remember watching Rapunzel at WL, lying on a sun lounger and looking up at the stars, one of my favourite evenings mickey

Sounds like it will be fantastic trip for you. yay

I loved afternoon tea at the GF. I am taking my husband on our next trip, as last time I went with my girlfriends. I would definitely recommend it.

I had forgotten about afternoon tea, that's definitely going on the list! Might do that the day before our anniversary as we are booking grand Floridian cafe for dinner on the day of our anniversary Smile

We watched tangled for the first time on the poly beach, it was amazing sitting out in a glorious evening watching a film under the stars Smile

I'm still mega jealous of you that you got the MK view....but still happy happy happy to be staying there yay

I have however read that we mere mortals renting points can't use the TOTWL? Do you know something I don't? wink

Definitely add the Afternoon tea to your list Robyn, you and Si will love it I'm sure.

Watch the amazing fire dancer during the torch lighting ceremony at the lobby entrance to the Polynesian (ask the concierge what time), have Tonga Toast for breakfast at the Polynesian, go to the luxury shops at the GF (nice place for gifts), take the ferry to Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness to horseback ride, rent a canoe, or take a free tour of the beautiful Wilderness Lodge), get a dessert flight at the Wave's bar.

Well we went up there before when we stayed at AKL last October Wink just showed our room keys though I have since read that it's hit and miss, it's worth a go anyway...

We did go for a standard view, and less than 24 hours later Hayley was happily accepting more money from me haha.

We go for afternoon tea here a lot though I've read that it's not up to 'UK standards' but I'm sure it will still be amazing Smile

We have read about tonga toast but neither of us likes bananas (I know, weird right?). Love the idea of the horseback ride but you obviously haven't seen pictures of us Wink I couldn't be that mean to the poor horsies Wink will def go over to wilderness lodge via the boat though. What's the dessert flight? It certainly has me interested Laughing out loud have a huge sweet tooth Smile

The dessert flights are small portions of three desserts, like a sampler. There are several combinations. The one we had was cheesecake with raspberries, coconut panna cotta with passion fruit drizzle, and chocolate mousse with pecan brittle.

Wow, another banana hater! I can't stand them either, Robyn. Not even in the form of banana bread.

Well in that case I might just try it myself, nothing ventured nothing gained.

No it's not up to UK standards, you don't get nearly as much as you get here, but it's nice all the same. Better still because it's in Disney World muchlove
