Magic Bands

I saw on a blog, that you can buy a haunted mansion themed magic band cover which is black and purple. I think it comes as part of a set of three - the other two are themed on small world and the tiki room.

I don't remember seeing this mentioned so I apologize if it was already and I missed it.... I was reading some of the chat threads on the Touring Plans app earlier and someone posted about getting a free add-on from the front desk of their resort. It was glow in the dark with 2013 on it.

Has anyone received one?

Ooooh....I wonder if the croc charms fit? I just thought of that. Crocs have the holes where they have tons of charms and they have backs on them to hold them on. I also have seen tons of Disney themed croc charms. Not sure if they have the evil queen but worth a shot.

I know they are not Disney, but maybe until they get a better selection?

Hmmm....looking at the holes on crocs...they are a lot bigger than the magicband holes. I don't know how big the posts are on them? Maybe someone else does.

We both have the 2013 things, I don't like them lol

Ok, nevermind, I should have looked better before I suggested it. They are one piece, no back that get pushed through the holes and the holes are huge...wouldn't work.

Did they give them to you at the resort or did you buy them?

They gave them to us at the resort, think they were using them to soften the blow re the band saga

Glad you posted that they don't ship to the UK as I was dreading the UPS delivery!

Got the shipping notification this morning at 5 AM, box delivered at 10 AM. Way to go!

I got gray to match all of my Grumpy t-shirts, the wife (Pinky) got ... wait for it ... PINK.

Ha ha! Isn't it funny how we pick colors? I got red because I have made some Mickey/Minnie shirts and many of them have red on them, plus I was thinking that I needed something to match my Dorothy shoes!

Hubby picked orange because it's his favorite color and he said it was Halloweenish!

So I wonder if I will get Magic Bands for my November AKL/SS trip? If I already have an AP in card form, does that exclude me? I keep checking My Disney Experience every day too.

The bands for my trip showed up on the my Disney Experience website two months ahead of time. We are staying Thanksgiving week though. I think the last of the testing for magicbands is October 31.

Well, we just got an email from My Disney Experiance to confirm that our Magic Bands have been dispatched and UPS will be delivering them to our resort, ready for our arrival.

Thanks Mr. Hub! I forget that you guys often travel outside of your DVC pts too. That could be it. But I do think I will call. I saw those bands in action last weekend with other guests, and they are pretty awesome. No digging around for your tickets/ cards.

I just need one of those neon bands.

I'm noticing a lot of gray bands on people, so clearly either people don't know that they can personalize the bands or when they get here, SURPRISE! I was dining at Boma tonight and I noticed that the family next to me had to little kids with the full bands wrapped around their little wrists. The bands went twice around and looked so uncomfortable. I had to stick my nose up in their business and show them how to separate the bands to make them smaller for little wrists. Clearly Disney needs to do a better job telling people about that feature!

I've only been here since noon, but so far, I like the bands. It's nice knowing you're not going to lock yourself out of your room and/or not having to dig for your room key when your hands are full. I am noticing that it is slowing down the fastpass process as everyone has to touch their bands and some are experiencing a "steeper learning curve" than others. I did pick up a tip from a CM that your FP+ will activate on your magic band about 5 minutes before your FP+ window.

Apparently with the bands, people are forgetting what KTTWCs are. I had been asked what the blue card was because the family thought it was an arcade card.

Now when your window comes up do you have to go there during that hour or can you go a bit after like you used to be able to do with the paper fast pass?

Doc we are staying DVC and I just checked the app and we now have the magic band option...We leave in 34 days and the option has only popped up on the app recently so maybe check your again...I was getting nervous about it but now I can chill out a bit....Guess when I get home this afternoon me and hubby have some choices to make

We aren't going until February, and actually haven't gotten our theme park tickets yet.....we usually get them from AAA. How does that work with the Magic bands? Once we get them do we then link the tickets to the app and get the option to do Magic Bands? I am assuming they will be live at all resorts by then. I would like to be able to customize them and choose the color etc so I am just thinking ahead. Or will I have to call once we get our tickets?
