I love the pictures Joe..thanks for sharing them..my biggest wish is that Jan feels better quick, like & in a hurry so we can get down to planning that 57th trip.

Hey! We are looking for Fl. resident rates for January. No telling what Jan's condition will be then but we keep a positive view. If we see a good deal we will make reservations. Since we don't use a travel agent we can always cancel, as long as it is at least 6 days out, without any penalty.
We try to keep up a good attitude but we are both aware that Jan will never get better. She will have some good times and some bad times. Eventually her body will give out. She is ready, tired of the fight, but not giving up. We spend 24/7 together. We have been sweethearts since she was 15 and still are. we never get tired of being with each other and I don't need any 'breaks'. We love being with each other and in WDW it is sheer joy.
We wish for all of you to be blessed with the love that Jan and I have .

I know very little about the nuke boats. The cartoon shows an old diesel sub like I served on. Some times they did leak. All the boats (subs) were given a test depth # by the builder. That ment the boat was tested to go that deep safely. Beyond that was at your own risk. Most of the boats I know of went below that depth from time to time. The boats were also given a crush depth #. That one was understandably avoided. The guys sitting down were the plainsmen. I spent many months in those seats when I first went aboard the boats. It was the first stage of intense qualifying every one went through.

Joe, did the boats HAVE to go deeper than the test depth, or did they just do it for fun? I know it can get boring on those boats!

We never went below TD for fun. In the ocean are different thermal (tempreture) layers at various depths. They deflect sound and can confuse anyone who might be looking for you. Some times you have to get below them. Not easy for the old sonrkel boats. Good place to hide. Can't say much more.

Sounds pretty terrifying to me. I would hate being under water for that long...much less under water in a "warlike" state. Talk about constant stress.
