Actually processing techniques date back to the beginning of photography but I get what your saying Kristen its all a matter of what the artist enjoys doing. To be a photographer you need to be serious about whatever type of photography you are passionate about be it HDR night, documentary, abstract, portraiture etc.
I know some will fit into this category but if you only pull your camera out every once in a while and don't actively go out and practice and attempt to get better your not a photographer, your just using a tool like you would a hammer etc. and there is nothing wrong with that at all, we all have our passions.
Now if you are trying to get better and do love it or enjoy it no matter what gear you have you are a photographer and your not a professional until you have a sustainable income coming from your work. Having said all of that I don't care if someone is or isn't a photographer if you took something your proud of I would love to see it and if you want tips to make it better I will be glad to help if I can. (its the one thing I have some knowledge in since angels does all our trip planning and I just go where she says lol)
Colonel The horse images are great love the perspective, Kristen nice snow image you got the white balance right for the snow that's not easy most camera tend to want to give it a blue hue. Thanks for giving us this area to share our images.
