Bean, Del and Ma & Pa Colonel check out Disneyland

waiting Tomorrow yay

If you're sick of my pictures already, stay clear of this thread.

I have reservations at Carthay Circle (WoC dining package) and Napa Rose. Free breakfast at the hotel. Other than that, we'll make it up as we go along.

Psyched!

Just a few comments and some pictures.

First of all, Uber is pretty cool. I know there are issues with it, but my first experience with it was very good. Really cheap, fast and friendly.

Second, The Park Vue Inn was very close, pretty clean and pretty cheap- but I wished I was at the VGC the whole time. I felt like I was missing something.

Here's a picture to start this off.

So apart from staying off-site this time, the big difference from my trip last year is that my DD and DSIL joined us for their first trip to DL which was lovely.

Also DL is celebrating their 60th anniversary which is a pretty big deal. Aside from the massive amount of merchandise for sale, the Diamond Anniversary brought in some special changes; Paint the Night Parade, DL Forever Fireworks and the return of The Mad Tea Party at DCA.

Somebody is excited to be making the pilgrimage to DL

The Indy Ride is one of my favorites. Similiar to Dinosaur at AK, but much better.

Odd Character Interaction

DL's version of the Plaza restaurant has outdoor seating and they have a character breakfast. As I was walking by I spied Captain Hook and Chip through a gap in the bushes. They were up to some kind of hijinks, so I paused to watch. Judging by the hand motions and gestures, Hook and Chip were involved in some kind of argument or dispute. Hook stops, turns his back on Chip, lifts his coattails and gives Chip a pantomime fart. Chip is holding his nose, waving his hands, wiping his eyes as if they are watering. It was hysterical. I couldn't stop laughing. I don't know if this would have been condoned by management, I suspect not. The only children in the area were in carriages, probably too young to even know what was happening. So the adults got a bit of naughty Hook and Chip. I'll add a picture later, but it doesn't begin to convey how funny this little scene was.

Characters are often without handlers in Disneyland. They even wonder around the park alone. Something that is never seen in Disney World anymore. You can't see a Character in Disney World these days without a fast pass, character meal, or a Chase Visa Card. I miss those spontaneous sightings.

We ate dinner at Carthay Circle (excellent) and got the World of Color dining package. How they assign the WoC seating is a complete mystery to me as we got there early and still managed to get the worst seats in the house. I won't be bothering with that in the future. I think fast passes got priority over the dining packages. At least I didn't have to worry about getting wet. Anyway, they changed up WoC a bit for the 60th. But since the show has no real plot and is pretty incomprehensible, it makes no difference. But it's Disney, and it's pretty!

We don't have this ride at WDW, but we may get it at DHS. I hope not. It's nice to have unique rides at the different parks.

Aladdin was the best production show I've seen between WDW and DL. But it will be another victim of the Frozen scourge.

Aladdin, The show

Aladdin, The show

Dang! Now I'm sorry we missed the Aladdin show. But with just two days there was only so much we could fit in.
