Hi everyone. I don't post much, but I love reading advice from all of you Disney experts. I just registered for the runDisney 5k in January. I' m over 50, I work at a desk, and I am completely out of shape. We're booked at OKW the first week of January 2016, so I thought if I paid for my family to run, I'd be forced to start exercising. I'm always happy to do anything that involves Disney. I keep seeing references to the couch to 5k app-do any of you know which app is best? My husband says he won't carry me across the finish line, so any help you can give to me will be appreciated. mickey

Congrats on getting in better shape!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't have an app, but I can say a good way to get started is with a Leslie Sansone DVD. I'd say if you like eighties music Walk to the Hits party songs. It's an aerobics program for people with 2 left feet. It's the same as doing 3 miles but much more fun! Don't worry about keeping up at first, the most important thing is working up to the more intense parts, no injuries allowed here. There's also a video of her on youtube called 5K with a twist. Good luck and happy moving.

Good afternoon all! The countdown is getting close so I have been running around like a chicken with his head cut off!! lol
Thanks, Figgy, we are both in good shape and feel good about gorging ourselves while down there! I have eaten so many salads that I am turning into a bunny!! lol
Only 10 more days from today and we will be driving to that special place!! I am beyond excited!! Why does each trip feel like the first???!!! I am absolutely giddy with excitement!! biggrin
We are in high gear for walking and stretching so we can accomplish those big miles at WDW. I may be scarce on here for a bit while attempting to start packing next week. So, everyone have a great weekend!! And get out of that house and outside some!

You can do it!!!!!!!!!!! You have enough time to get in shape and even if you only power walk the "run" you're way ahead of where you are now!!!!!

My next trip is starting to come together, going to post a pre, pre, pre TR later! Only 400 something days to get in Disney shape, AKA the best shape of my life. 5 advanced miles(Leslie Sansone) done and some yoga later. Going with my commandos I'll have to be able to do 10 -12 miles a days every day. Well that is if I can get them to slow down and smell the roses.

Good morning and happy weekend! jtownpluto I hope you're moving but not over doing! No injuries allowed! Mr Ferret your wit and wisdom will be missed, Have a MAGICAL vacation. I got on the sale this am first time in forever and I'm down 1/2 a pound since the last time, probably doesn't mean anything. I've stopped weighing myself for the most part and now rely on how my clothes fit. A while back I lost a pants size and gained 2 pounds in the same month, did lots of lifting that month....... the scale isn't everything. I can't believe I'm finally going back. I know a bit over 14 months, but it's going to be a nice long vacation! On my feet all day every day, now's the time to step up my game. It's never too early! Today I did 5 really big miles (Leslie Sansone) and some leg work. I just got a peek at the weather for the next week, winter's last gasp is gone up here!!!!!!!!!!!!! FINALLY!!!!! My winter heavy coat was washed and hung up last night and I'm hoping not to see it out again (one winter it didn't come out at all) I'm hoping to be out walking every day starting Monday, alas I won't have time tomorrow time to finish cleaning out my yard. Heading out shopping for groceries today lots of nice fresh veggies are starting to come in clapping clapping clapping I'll have to see what's on sale and start there, have to save every penny I can (a lesson learned from the watchmaker) A penny saved is an extra one for Disney biggrin Go out enjoy life and you gotta move it, move it!

Grrrr my exercise is on hold!

I started a new job last week and I am training for the next 6 weeks, that means a lot of hotels in a strange town 150 miles away from home and a lot of meals out with new colleagues.

I love the challenge of a fresh start but it does mean I need to get into a new routine then sort out fitting in the gym. Also I did go for a walk last night but this part of town is...... Ummmm..... Not quite somewhere for ladies to be wandering out alone after 9pm shall we say.

I'm getting on great! 14 months to go, winter just broke and I'm just about in Disney shape! I get a little crazy the last few weeks before a trip! I look at Disney training as some approach a marathon. Sometimes I think a marathon might be easier! It's only one day to get through wheelchair

That's awesome, I knew it would be a lot of walking but I think that it's a fact a lot of people dismiss! I might load up a pedometer in the phine next time, but I don't know if knowing your daily distances is a good or bad thing eek

My next Disney trip is the cruise, I intend to hike up Vesuvius .... Hence the exercise!

Marathons might only be one day but they don't have mickey or a castle hehehe

Did not realize that your wife was that much younger than you! eek

Age is just a number. My grandfather is 15 years older that my step grandmother and my grandmother is 20 years younger than her husband, who is 97; she's 77. Grandfather has been married for over 30 years, grandmother for 25 years. Only a number. Smile
