Good morning!! Had my cholesterol checked yesterday and doing well. yay
Going to keep doing what I am doing. Just cut out some of the fast food!
Walking my 4-6 miles a day is definitely helping. I eat pretty healthy but get busy and grab whatever sometimes. I am going to try to add a few more fruits into my diet too.
Everyone keep moving and think Disney!! Smile

Good afternoon! I have had a long week! I just finished painting my new kitchen/dining area. I may get the moulding up soon or just let it be awhile!Smile
My walking is still helping me stay in shape but eating out a lot due to the kitchen being in disarray has not helped my blood pressure. So, today starts cutting out caffeine and salt plus eating out as much. I want to get it down so I don't have to take meds. Not a pill taking person!
Tonight I had planned a dish that required soy sauce and hoisin which both contain lots of salt. So, I googled and found some recipes for no salt versions. We will see at dinner how they fare.
Congrats watchmaker!! Sounds like you are doing good!!
Everyone have a nice weekend!! Stay active and think Disney!! I know I am!!Smile

After a struggle with my illness I gain 4lbs over the last month and am currently 12st 12lbs my aim is to get to 11st 10lbs in 8 weeks which is about 2lbs a week really doable. So the working out and diet have begun. I am clean eatting, cutting all carbs and really just eatting meat fruit and veg because in 8 weeks I'm going to be stuffing my face with Turkey legs, pork shanks, p&b milkshakes, dole whips, candy apples, popcorn, Mickey waffles and Ohana.

I'm back running three times a week I have managed to run 1.5 miles this morning the aim is to run 3 miles in a session, I am also trying to walk 6 miles a day. This is more for walking preparation for the parks. And to top it off I am doing a work out plan that cam with men's health, I don't think these things work it's called "get a beach boys in 8 weeks" I've managed day one 31 sessions to go, we will see and if it works I will post a link on here for you.

As a final thing change for life.com have disney games for all the family on they site at the moment. Me and my fiance have been playing them and you get really active I'm not sure if it's uk only but they are a fun way to get fit and cause it's disney it's fun!!!!!

Any way sorry for a long post good luck all

Good morning!!! Another good day to enjoy!
You guys are doing great! Just keep on doing what you are doing. The results you want will follow. I have found out that patience is a must if you want to lose weight and keep it off. Then you just have to maintain it. The hard work is losing.
I am still walking the 4 mile day. Every other day is stretching and weights.
We have just 18 days until our two week adventure drive to Utah so I put on the pedometer to keep up with my miles every day. Cannot wait to do some hiking!
Take care, eat healthy, drink lots of water, and think Disney!! Keep moving!

Today the weather is almost fall-like here. A good day to get out and move.
Walking plus weights today. I have started keeping track of my steps with a pedometer during the day to get my 10,000 steps in. I do more than I thought!! It is actually easy to get them in. Dinner is pasta with shrimp and tomato-caper sauce. Plus a salad.
Hope everyone has a wonderful day!! Keep moving!!

Hi Boomer and thanks for the welcome!!! Right now I am eating healthy and trying to get in some movement everyday. I have a particularly stressful job and most days I come home and CRASH. I've also had a bad sprain about a year ago that still gives me issues which have turned into more problems with over compensation... AHHHH the joys of getting older. I want to get a few of the pounds off before I go full on back into my running. (I do miss it. sad )

All that said day one was good and I got thru it with out caffeine! WOO HOO!!!! Being awake since 3 is going to make today tough... waiting

On the healthy food and exercise tips, I have a few items that seem to have been working for me lately, so I'll share...

For food, I've been using lost of squash and zucchini.

We make a spaghetti casserole that we love. The base is a box of capellini noodles (cooked), 1/2 c. of milk, and an egg. The next layer is a jar of pasta sauce (we like marinara). Top with cheese (I love cheese, so I usually use a whole bag of shredded cheese on top) and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Well, We've replaced the capellini noodles with spaghetti squash. Slice squash in half and scoop out the seeds. Bake the spaghetti squash face down at 400 degrees for an hour. Use a fork to scrape the squash into a baking pan. Add 2 eggs to the squash to form a base (no milk). Add sauce and cheese and bake at 350 for 30 min.

For zucchini, slice a zucchini lengthwise into 4 flat equal strips. sprinkle with parmesan cheese. Bake for 5-10 min. to soften zucchini, then broil for 5-10 min. to brown the cheese. This also works well as a "zucchini pizza" just add a layer of fresh tomato between the zucchini and the cheese.

On the workout front, I've been running for about a year now. With the winter being so harsh, I backslid quite a bit in my pace and distance and it has been much harder building up over the summer than it was last fall. (I really don't like the heat and humidity at home--funny though it never bothers me in Florida wink ) My two obstacles to improving my times and distances are pain in my feet (if I don't take care of my arches, I pay a rather painful price) and lung capacity/breathing rhythm. I've found that cross training with some swimming has done wonders for my lung capacity. So if you have access to a pool, try some swimming as a great low-impact way to build up your endurance.

Awesome tips Alice, a tip for your legs and feet is to 1 : Lat on you back with you left knee bend and foot on the floor so your led is at 90 degrees, keeping your right leg straight lift up on your left foot arching your back and lifting your right leg off of the floor, do 10 reps and set of 4 and change legs. 2: stand on a step with your toes on the step and your heels off of the step lift up on to your tip toes and slowly back down 20 reps and a set of 4.

I had the same issue you seem to be having and was told yo try this I did this the day before running days for 4 months and really improved my distance and my blisters.

I hope that helps biggrin

get well soon watchmaker. Lets hope it's just man flu.

So here's my little diary for the last too days.

Clean eating has gone pretty well for the first week, Im really lucky cause I really love fruit and veg so I'm enjoying lots of melon and berries and lovely seasonal stuff all day, chicken breast for lunch and no card dinners. Lovely.

My fiance on the other hand..... doesn't do fruit other than apples so its harder for her. Last night we did get takeaway, but I had a lamb bona, no rice but did give in to to naan bread. oh well. life is for living and I love naan!

over the last two days exercise has been pretty good thursday was a nice 1 mile run and full pace ( i couldn't walk due to the storms) and this morning was circuit training and I will walk 3 miles this afternoon. weigh in is sunday sad fingers crossed
