With completion of the final piece of the expansion to Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom and Disney Springs progressing well, attention is now turning back to the recent 2014 ground breaking on the new Avatar-themed 'Pandora' land at Animal Kingdom and it seems an apt time to revisit the original concept destined for this area of the park.
The Tree of Life, the iconic symbol of Disney's Animal Kingdom since 1998, recently went through a lengthy refurbishment. The construction walls have been removed to reveal an expanded central hub and "root" area of the tree featuring all-new carvings for guests to enjoy.

The Walt Disney Company has named Tom Staggs the Chief Operating Officer. Staggs was the Chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts and will continue to lead the Parks and Resorts division while also working in his new role. A successor is expected to be named to take over the Parks and Resorts division at a later date.

Disneyland Resort is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year and fans of the resort have a chance to bid on more than 1,000 original collectibles at the end of this month. The items headed to the auction block include cast member costumes, tickets, blueprints from the park, and even a skeleton from the original Pirates of the Caribbean attraction.
