It's mid-March which means it's time for that big college basketball tournament but it's also time for the second annual March Magic Tournament from the Disney Parks. The tournament features 32 teams inspired by favorite Disney Parks attractions that will battle it out for the title of ultimate Disney attraction, with the winner announced on April 6.
Over the years I haven't been known to be much of a parade fan. However, on my last trip to Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom I was absolutely blown away by my first viewing of the Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade. Just a little over a year old (it debuted February 10th, 2014) this is a production on a grand scale and kicks off in the afternoon to continue the Disney tradition of classic parades in the Magic Kingdom.
Every holiday season guests at the Walt Disney World Resort are amazed by the incredible gingerbread displays at the resort hotels, including the Contemporary and Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. But have you ever wondered what happens to the displays once the holidays are over? We have the answer!
There are so many beautiful resorts at Walt Disney World, it can be hard to choose which one is right for your vacation, that's just one of the reasons our "5 Reasons" series is so popular with readers. In 2013 we published an article titled 5 Reasons To Love Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa. I just returned from a fantastic stay at this resort and had to share with you why it's still on point.
If you're looking for Dole Whip the next time you're at the Magic Kingdom you'll need to wander a little deeper into Adventureland. Aloha Isle, home of the Dole Whip, recently switched places with the Sunshine Tree Terrace, home of the Citrus Swirl!
When you're craving something cold and sweet at the Magic Kingdom there are a few places you can visit for soft serve ice cream, Dole Whip, or even a Citrus Swirl. But sometimes you just really want a hand-scooped ice cream sundae to enjoy while watching the fireworks over Cinderella Castle. That's when you stop by the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor on Main Street U.S.A.
Disney has recently introduced several new entertainment experiences in World Showcase following last year's departure of acts including Off Kilter and Mo'Rockin'. The new acts include an acoustic band, a flag-throwing team, and even Canadian Lumberjacks.
Today's pretty spring ensemble was put together as an homage to the stunning wedding dress in Disney's live action movie Cinderella. In the movie costume designer Sandy Powell "wanted the costumes to be bold and have an explosion of color as if it were a picture book," but the wedding dress had to embody modesty and pure heart of Cinderella.
If you're headed to the Magic Kingdom this summer there is one less FastPass+ you'll need. Pirates of the Caribbean is closing down May 11 for a several-months-long refurbishment and won't be open again until sometime in September.
Now that the Village Causeway is open in Downtown Disney, guests are beginning to get a better feel for the genesis of Disney Springs. This attractive pedestrian bridge not only offers a convenient and scenic bypass around the Marketplace, but offers guests a little bit of shopping while they stroll. There are four home-grown kiosks placed here that offer Florida local products for
sojourner to enjoy.
