• 2011 Disney Fan Club Events Announced

    D23, the Official Disney Fan Club, has a great line up of events planned for 2011. The club has a wide range of activities that is sure to please Disney fans of all ages, so mark your calendars now.

    On January 29, there is a special preview screening planned of the new Disney Junior show "Jake and the Never Land Pirates." Two eleven minute episodes of the animated series will be shown at the preview, and star David Arquette, who provides the voice for Skulky, will be on hand with Disney Geek Jeff Epstein for a Q & A session.

  • New "Pirates" Trailer Debuted To Serious Fans

    December 13 was a lucky day for some serious "Pirates of the Caribbean" fans. Disney debuted the trailer to the upcoming fourth installment of that movie franchise to a special, invite-only audience at the California Downtown Disney that day.

    Wanting to give fans a chance for the ultimate first look at Captain Jack's continuing adventures, Disney had a few ways people could score an invitation to the debut including liking a Facebook page, registering online or calling a local California radio station.

  • "Ever After": A New Disney Wedding Blog

    Earlier this month, brides and grooms planning nuptuials at a Disney local got a bit of an early Christmas present in the form of a wedding-specific blog. Disney Weddings launched their appropriately named "Ever After" blog December 1st.

    Features are to include highlights of real couples and Wedding Cake Wednesdays. Through cyberspace, brides and grooms all over the globe can connect and be inspired by the magic that is Disney to help make their big day also their most wondrous.

  • Mickey's Toontown Fair's Last Day Is In February 2011

    If you want to visit the Magic Kingdom before Mickey's Toontown Fair closes, you'd better start planning soon. That particular area of the park is set to be closed on February 11, 2011, as part of the ongoing Fantasyland expansion.

    This isn't exactly shocking news as Disney had announced plans to "repurpose" Goofy's Barnstormer when the first news of the expansion hit. However, it is a bit of sad news as the Fair has become a fixture at the kingdom and is a popular stop among the character-seeking set.

  • Disney Dream Officially Becomes a Disney Ship

    Meyer Werft, the German company that is built the ship, has officially handed the Disney Dream over to Disney in a "traditional maritime ceremony." The flag of the company was lowered and replaced with the Disney flag to signify the ship's change of ownership.

    The ship will be captained by Tom Forberg, who has been with Disney Cruise Lines for fifteen years. In fact Forberg launched both the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder and is no stranger to sailing on a new Disney vessel.

  • Great Thanksgiving Weekend For Broadway's "The Lion King"

    Even after fourteen seasons on Broadway, Disney's "The Lion King" has broken the Minskoff's Theater box office record yet again. "The Lion King" took in over $1.8 million from eight performances over Thanksgiving weekend. This triumphant showing bested the theater's previous record which was set in January of this year also by "The Lion King."

  • Tangled Tops Charts as Highest Grossing Thanksgiving Weekend Opening

    Disney's newest animated film has won its place in history with the highest-grossing Thanksgiving weekend opening on record!

    "Tangled," which centers on a coming-of-age story featuring well-known character Rapunzel and her suitor, Flynn Rider, opened to an $11.5 million day, and is expected to make upwards of $65 million this weekend.

    In a trifecta of deliciousness, three new food locations opened in Downtown Disney this month, replacing the spot vacated by McDonald's after the restaurant's contract expired with Disney last year.

    Pollo Campero and Fresh Apeel offer your entrees, while Babycakes NYC -- a starlet New York City bakery that recently expanded to LA and now to Orlando -- offers the primary dessert options.

    What makes this place different from any other you'll find in Disney World, however, is what you won't find in its cupcakes, breads, and cookies. The Vegan bakery is also egg-free, gluten-free, casein-free, and refined sugar-free -- perfect for guests with specialty diets!

  • Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas Celebrate 10th Anniversary at Epcot

    With Michael Douglas' health issues a constant headline, it was nice to see he and wife of 10 years, actress Catherine Zeta-Jones, out and about enjoying a day in the parks.

    The celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary in Epcot, with kiddos Dylan (at left, age 10) and Carys (at right, age 7).

    While Zeta-Jones and Douglas' anniversary is technically November 18th, the couple was seen in Epcot on the 24th.
