Tinker Bell Half Marathon Sold Out, Other Races Filling Up Quickly

If you're planning on running any races during the Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend or the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend, you better run to your computers and register now.

The Tinker Bell Half Marathon sold out within two days after registration opened, and the Glass Slipper Challenge and Enchanted 10K race during the Princess Half Marathon Weekend at Walt Disney World are also sold out.

Events during runDisney’s Princess Half Marathon Weekend are Quickly Filling Up

It's been a little more than a week since the registration for runDisney's Princess Half Marathon Weekend opened, and the events are quickly filling up.

Registration opened at noon on June 11 for all Princess Half Marathon events, and within a few hours the new-for-2014 Glass Slipper Challenge was sold out. As of press time, the Enchanted 10K was at 99 percent capacity while the Princess Half Marathon was at 65 percent capacity.

Princesses, it's time to find your tiara. runDisney has recently announced details and prices for the 2014 Princess Half Marathon Weekend at Walt Disney World.

Race events include the Princess Half Marathon, the Royal Family 5K, the Enchanted 10K, the Glass Slipper Challenge, kids races, a pasta party, breakfast, and the Fit for a Princess Expo.

Updates on the 2014 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend

Registration for the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend opened at noon on April 9, and within hours the brand new Walt Disney World 10K was sold out. In addition to the 10K, the Family Fun Run 5K is also sold out. At press time the Dopey Challenge was at 99 percent capacity.

Rachel Booth Wins 2013 Princess 1/2 Marathon

More than 26,000 runners lined up in the dark hours of the morning to participate in the 2013 Princess 1/2 Marathon. A mostly female field came from 34 different countries to share in this amazing and memorable 5th Anniversary race. The youngest runner in the field was a youthful 14 years old; the oldest a spritely 98.

Navy SEAL Meets Lung Donor's Family at WDW Marathon

A person who's undergone a double lung transplant participating in a marathon is news in and of itself. Over the past weekend, a Navy SEAL did just that - and he also got to meet the family of the teen who made the transplant possible.

Justin Legg, who underwent a double lung transplant in 2010 due to complications from leukemia, ran the Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon last Saturday at Walt Disney World. After finishing the 13.1 mile course, he was able to meet and thank the mother of his lung donor. Said Legg:

2019 Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend Medals

Bring on the bling! A first look at the medals for the 2019 Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend events have been released. With an interesting take on the medal art this year, each of the medals features a different Disney Princess giving it her all to race towards the finish line. The Half Marathon is a symphony in pink (not blue) with Princess Aurora , hair flowing in the wind as she runs.

Why More and More Women Are Signing Up to runDisney

Women-only running events (95% or greater female) are on the rise, with over 200 events in 2011. Women of all ages, all shapes and sizes, and all athletic abilities are coming together to take on the challenge of conquering a long distance run. There is a sense of camaraderie and a lack of inhibition at these events that have women flocking to run.

It has been quite an exciting few weeks in the world of runDisney. Race season officially began over Labor Day weekend with the Disneyland Half Marathon and Jimmy Gabrow set a new course record by winning the race in 1:05! Cars Land was the main focus of the weekend beginning with the Cars Land 5K Rally that finished with racers running down Route 66. Half marathoners also had the chance to run through Cars Land on their course, many through a sea of neon in the morning darkness.
