Highland Games Tournament Coming To Epcot This Summer

"Brave - The Highland Tournament Games" are coming to the Rose Walk in Epcot this summer. Starting June 1, Epcot will be hosting a series of kid friendly games based on its newest flick "Brave."

A number of activities will be available for kid participation, including a Mini Caber Toss, a Cake Toss, a Haggis Flip and archery. There also will be a kids' playground.

The real reason this story is mentioned on this Walt Disney World for Grownups site is the Rose Walk, where the games are planned to be held, will also be a site for enhanced wireless access.

Disney Announces Eat to the Beat Concert Lineup

Food and music and Disney. It doesn't get much better than that. Returning in the fall is Epcot's popular Eat to the Beat concert series which will run during the International Food and Wine Festival.

Here are the acts and dates planned for this year's concerts:

  • September 28 - 30 - Night Ranger
  • October 1-3 - Sugar Ray
  • October 4-7 - STARSHIP starring Mickey Thomas
  • October 8-10 - Boyz II Men
  • October 11-12 - Smash Mouth
  • October 13-14 - Javier Colon, winner of "The Voice"

Sounds Like Summer Concert Series Lineup Announced

Epcot hosts its share of concerts, and Disney recently released the lineup for a summertime series of tunes. The Sounds Like Summer Concert Series for this year is set to run June 10 through July 28 and will feature the following tribute bands on the following dates:

  • June 10 " June 17 - Hotel California (Eagles tribute band) (pictured above)
  • June 18 " June 23 - Mike Delguidice & Big Shot (The Ultimate Billy Joel Experience)
  • June 24 " June 30 - Stayin' Alive (tribute to the Bee Gees)

Tutto Gusto Wine Cellar Now Open

Guests wanting to sample some wine while visiting Epcot will be happy to hear a new option has opened this week. May 1 marked the official opening of the Tutto Gusto Wine Cellar in the Italy Pavilion in Epcot's World Showcase.

Test Track Closed For Refurbishment

We first brought you the news of the planned refurbishment of the GM Test Track in Epcot back in January. The Future World attraction officially closed April 16 and is anticipated to reopen this fall with a new name: Test Track Presented by Chevrolet.

Haitian Garden: A New Exhibit at This Year's Flower & Garden Fest

The Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival is in full swing in Walt Disney World, and one of the festival's new exhibits this year has its roots in Haiti. The Haiti: Garden of Many Colors addition showcases many flowers and crops native to Haiti.

Epcot's French Bakery To Expand

It looks like the Boulangerie Patisserie, the French bakery area in Epcot's World Showcase, will be expanding and undergoing enhancements in the future.

Not too long ago, Disney World filed a notice of commencement with Orange County, Florida, to enlarge the bakery. A second floor addition, a counter-service restaurant and a 3,000 square foot kitchen are on tap for expected improvements.

Agent P Coming To The World Showcase

It's no longer a rumor! Disney announced earlier this week Agent P will be taking over the Kim Possible World Showcase Adventure at Epcot sometime this summer.

Monorail Hours Changed

The Walt Disney World monorail's hours have been changed because of work on the DVC addition at the Grand Floridian.

Guests can expect the Magic Kingdom resort loop to be closed each day from 11:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. The change started March 2nd and it is said Disney is planning to have the work done by the end of March.

Epcot Segway Tour To Close

If you want to experience a segway tour at Epcot with a nature influence, you have until early July to do so. Disney has made plans to close the Nature-Inspired by Design Segway Tour on July 3, 2012.

The tour, which dates back to 2009, gives guests a chance to interact with Disney cast members and scientists as well as see how nature inspires their work environments. In addition, the three hour tour lets guests ride on a Segway X-2 in an offroad, backstage area of Epcot.

Originally standing for the Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow, it was actually intended to be much more of the basis for Walt Disney World than the Magic Kingdom. Eventually however his initial vision proved too grand to be carried out and it became the less expansive park that you see today.

Dinner with a View at Epcot’s San Angel Inn

Every time I've visited Epcot's Mexico pavilion to enjoy the Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros I always say "next time we'll eat at the San Angel Inn."
