The Walt Disney Company Names Tom Staggs Chief Operating Officer

The Walt Disney Company has named Tom Staggs the Chief Operating Officer. Staggs was the Chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts and will continue to lead the Parks and Resorts division while also working in his new role. A successor is expected to be named to take over the Parks and Resorts division at a later date.

Select Walt Disney World Restaurants Testing Allergy-Friendly Menus

Several restaurants at the Walt Disney World Resort are testing new "allergy-friendly" menus for guests with food allergies and intolerances.

The allergy friendly menus are being tested for a limited time at the World Premiere Food Court at the All-Star Movies Resort, the Flying Fish Cafe at the BoardWalk, and Captain Cook's and the Kona Cafe at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort.

Disney VoluntEARS Earn $1 Million for Central Florida Nonprofits

In recognition of the ongoing efforts of the Disney VoluntEARS, the Walt Disney World Resort has announced plans to give more than $1 million to Central Florida nonprofits.

The monetary donations are being made through the company's EARS to You grants.

So far this year, The Walt Disney Company has given more than 1,500 EARS to You grants to nonprofits in honor of the 308,000 hours of community service that were donated by VoluntEARS in 2013.

Hidden Mickey Pins Arriving at the Disney Parks this Month

A second wave of Hidden Mickey pins arrived at Walt Disney World and Disneyland in July.

The Hidden Mickey pins are distributed to cast members to use for pin trading with guests. There are two sets of pins: one specific to Disneyland and one for Walt Disney World.

The Disneyland Hidden Mickey pins feature an assortment of setsfeaturing: chalk sketches of Disney characters, Disney Birds, Deck of Cards pins with Disney characters, Villainous Sidekicks, Tea Pots inspired by Disney characters, and silver-colored chaser pins.

Walt Disney World Reaches Tentative Agreement with Unions

Walt Disney World has reached a tentative labor agreement with its largest union group.

The agreement raises the minimum hourly rate for full-time employees to $10 by 2016. The hourly rate will increase to $9.50 next year.

The contract covers the 21,000 full-time workers represented by the Services Trade Council, a coalition of six unions.

Disney Denies Claims Presented in Americans with Disabilities Act Lawsuit

Disney has filed a response to the lawsuit filed in April by 16 families who said the theme parks' Disability Access Service violates the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

In the original lawsuit, the families of 16 children and young adults with autism and other developmental disabilities alleged that the new Disability Access Service is unsuited to the needs of guests with special needs.

A new diversity resource group has launched at the Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts.

This resource group will help provide a military perspective at the resorts that will enhance experiences for guests and cast members.

The diversity resource groups at Disneyland and Walt Disney World work as resources for cast members and the Walt Disney Company by sharing unique perspectives from diverse communities.

Walt Disney World Resort Looks to Fill 1,200 Jobs through Online Job Fair

The Walt Disney World Resort has more than 1,200 job openings and they're hosting an online summer job fair through May 31 to fill the positions.

The open positions include jobs at all four Walt Disney World Resort theme parks, two water parks, the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, Downtown Disney, and the resort hotels.
